The Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade and macLYON bring together works from their collections for a dual international exhibition presented in Belgrade after its premiere in France. Rather than following a chronological survey, the project is structured around themes that place two museum collections from very different historical and cultural settings into dialogue.
Organized into four sections - Body, Collective Space, Relations and Politics - the exhibition includes more than 70 works by artists from Serbia, the region and the international scene. Using biography, memory and identity as starting points, the participating artists explore power, ideology, resistance and control, showing how personal narratives can carry political meaning.
The opening on Friday also includes a live action in the gallery space: a re-performance of Ivana Ivković’s work "Lines, Rows, Columns (Dormitory)." The work uses an evolving composition of male bodies to activate the space between social order and vulnerability, extending the exhibition’s central themes.
