Paquito D’Rivera, a 16-time Grammy winner, comes to Nišville with a trio performance centered on jazz interplay, improvisation and rhythmic detail. His work connects latin jazz, bebop and classical music, and his career includes more than 40 albums as well as collaborations with major orchestras and musicians around the world.
An important part of his musical path is Irakere, a landmark group in the development of latin jazz that brought together jazz, rock and Cuban tradition in a distinctive sound. In Niš he appears with Pepe Rivero on piano and Sebastián Laverde on vibraphone and marimba, a lineup that supports both delicate passages and more layered rhythmic sections.
