BRKOVI ON 12 SEPTEMBER AT LUKA BEOGRAD
PUNK, FOLK, WELLNESS – AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN
One of the region’s most distinctive and loudest bands, Brkovi, returns to the Belgrade audience after two years with a major open-air concert at Luka Beograd on 12 September. The audience can expect an evening of raw energy, collective catharsis, sweat, laughter and choral singing of lyrics everyone knows – even those who pretend they do not listen to them.
For more than 20 years, the band has been building its own musical universe under the name “punkfolkwellness”, successfully combining punk, turbofolk, rock and brutal humor, and is known for concerts that erase the boundaries between stage and audience. Their performances are not just gigs – they are rituals of group therapy with distorted guitars and emotional refrains.
The Belgrade concert will also serve as a promotion of the new album “Duga devetka”, a release that brings a new chapter in Brkovi’s recognizable poetics without giving up their core strengths: directness, raw emotion and a brazenly honest view of everyday life. The audience will have the chance to hear new songs live alongside the now cult hits that have marked the band’s career.
On the occasion of the upcoming concert, the band’s frontman Shamso69 says in his recognizable tone: “Belgrade has always been like a relative whose place you visit for coffee and end up in a three-day party. We promise a concert where people will sing, jump, hug and maybe make some bad life decisions – but with a smile. If after the concert your soul feels lighter and your legs feel heavier, then we’ve done our job properly.”
The Belgrade audience already knows well what it means when Brkovi come to town: no calculation, no pretending, no half-hearted energy. From the first to the last note, band and audience breathe as one, and songs about love, defeats, passions and social absurdities are sung at full volume.
The concert at Luka Beograd will be an opportunity for the audience to hear an overview of the band’s career and to experience the energy of the new songs live, in a setting that perfectly suits their untamed attitude and uncompromising concert aesthetic.
