Nušićijada is a collage-style festival dedicated to humour and lively public celebration, with a programme that combines theatre, film, music and street events.
During the festival, Ivanjica is transformed into a townscape evoking the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Cafés and restaurants across town join in the atmosphere, while many participants appear in period costume inspired by old urban Serbia.
Evening programmes take place on the main square, where a stage called Okruglo pa na ćoše is set up. The programme is hosted by an actor appearing as Branislav Nušić, dressed in period attire associated with the famous Serbian playwright.
The festival has presented a wide-ranging programme on multiple stages; in 2019, it was held across 11 different festival scenes.
