Held in the Ekata gallery at Ekata Estate in Krnjevo, this exhibition brings together the work of Radomir Damnjanović Damnjan with the artistic positions associated with the Zagreb group Gorgona. The curatorial focus is on the development of conceptual art and the continuity of avant-garde practice in the region.
Damnjan is presented as a major figure of the post-war Yugoslav and European avant-garde, whose practice moved across painting, minimalism, performance and video art. The exhibition also points to his connections with Gorgona in the 1970s, placing his work in dialogue with figures such as Josip Vaništa and Julije Knifer.
The exhibition forms part of the opening edition of the Ekata festival, conceived as a meeting point of conceptual art and live sound in the brutalist complex in Krnjevo.
